Its going to be a crazy summer, starting... now. On Thursday I leave for Fire Drums. Its a big annual fire festival held near the northern border of California. Have you heard of Burning Man? This is where a bunch of those fire-dancers go to improve their skills and have an amazing time. Only 250 tickets sold, and master-level instructors are flown in from across the world to teach fire workshops. I'm going to this event so that I can train with some of the best fire-breathers on the planet. I love fire. I have always loved fire. This is going to be amazing. Its also going to help prepare me for working a bunch of fire-breathing performance jobs over the summer. If I'm going pro, I'm going to do it right. |
As soon as I get back from the mountain, I am launching the Art Storm. I've run a few workshops at my place this year, but I have never organized something of this scale before in my life.
I'll be hosting drawing workshops three nights per week, all summer long. Most will be nude, some will be costumed. About half of them will feature two models. Who wants to work an office job? I'll be modeling at some of them, drawing at the rest. Time to practice my drawing skills!

I'm a natural contortionist, but a year ago I went through Ashtanga Yoga teacher training. Doing regular yoga for 12 months has taken my flexibility to new heights. My health is great and I am stronger than ever before. Since I'm certified to teach, I'm going to spread the love and run small Ashtanga classes every weekday from 10am-noon. Running yoga classes? This is another first for me. |
I grew up in a family with a lot of physical touch. I learned to love to touch and be touched, and having a lot of animals around who also liked to be pet served to create and reinforce the habit. At some point, my father taught me the basics of massage. In growing up, I got a lot of practice and gradually developed my own style. With my natural empathy and quick learning, I pick up or figure out new tricks nearly every time I get a massage or give one, This summer I'm offering my talent as a massage artist, and I already have happy clients around Los Angeles paying me $100/hour. I dig it. |
Clearly, that isn't enough. I have a pile of other projects underway and other fields I'm looking to tap into. Things to build and things to learn. Training for movie stunts, voice and creature character work. Creating art, building websites (including this one) and starting businesses.
This summer is going to be busy with many forms of awesome.
